"It was a wonderful experience and I honestly did not want to leave if the situation wasn't like this. I need to take an early morning bus/taxi from here to Gangtok and can drivers were asking me for 1k from the hostel to sntd bus stand in Gangtok. So for me it was a better decision to stay in Gangtok overnight instead of spending on travelling from rumtek early morning. You have a really talented bunch of people who genuinely care about the guest and it was really heartwarming to see that. For me, any city I visit, the people make the city, not its buildings or markets. So in that sense I had a great experience at BPD. Thank you and good luck."

I spoke with the Permit Department officer at the entrance gate to Rumtek, and he assured me that it wasn't necessary for me to fill out the form at the Backpacker's Den.
